Konttiaho acquired another quality beef breed, Galloway cattle, in 2018. Markku took interest in the breed while visiting Scotland and the birthplace of both the Highland and the Galloway cattle. Galloway is still very rare to find in Finland. The breed was only a while ago classified as suitable for outside breeding. Galloway is well adjusted to a harsh climate, as its thick undercoat protects it from the cold and the rain. The Galloway is naturally hornless.
The Galloway have either black, grey, brown or white colored coat. There is also a two-colored variation that has a white belt in its coat. K. Nińo (Ninja), Our Konttiaho Galloway bull, has this coloring and is of the so-called "Belted" breed. Ninja has mounted last July eight Highland cows and this May the first crossbreed animals were born. Everything is looking very promising, the calves are very strong. The calves' breed is Galloway. They inherit 90% of the bull's features and are always without horns.
